Javier O. Martinez
Javier Martinez is an Associate Attorney at Bires Schaffer & Deborde. He was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico and immigrated to the United States at an early age. He spent his early years living in Laredo, Texas where he attended John B. Alexander High School. At John B. Alexander, Javier was a dual sport award winning athlete in both baseball and football. After being named the district’s most valuable player his senior year, Javier received a full scholarship to play baseball at Laredo Community College.
After one year of playing college baseball at Laredo Community College, Javier transferred to the University of Texas at Austin to pursue his academic career. While at the University of Texas, he excelled academically and was a member of the Dean’s List. He was also an active member in the Austin community through his student organization, Texas Iron Spikes. Because of his commitment to serving the community, his fellow members elected him as Community Service Director in 2008. In May 2009, Javier became the first member of his family to graduate from college after receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Government.
Javier enrolled at South Texas College of Law in August 2010. While in law school, he was a member of the Dean’s List. He also received several recognitions and scholarships for high academic merit. After his first year of law school, Javier began working at Bires Schaffer & Deborde as a law clerk. During his two year tenure as law clerk, Javier zealously and effectively assisted in the representation of clients charged with various types of crimes in both federal and state courts. He participated in all aspects of representation ranging from grand jury investigations to complex jury trials. After successfully passing the Texas Bar Exam, Javier joined Bires Schaffer & Deborde as an Associate Attorney.
Javier believes that a client accused of committing a crime deserves a lawyer who will outwork the prosecution every step of the way. He believes that a client’s best defense is an aggressive defense.
